Meet My Family

I met my husband when I was fourteen years old. We became good friends before we were dared to share a kiss one May afternoon in 2004. Eight years later and we are still sharing kisses. My husband served over four years with the US Marine Corps before switching to the Army. He's an honorable man, who I am so very proud of. He spends his spare time gaming, but he loves to skateboard when he gets the chance. He's not your simple man. He doesn't care for steak and potatoes or the NFL. My husband is a nerd. He's a "techie." And it's one of the things I love the most about him.
Skywalker is our oldest child. He was born in the late fall, 2005.  He's earned his nickname by being a little bit on the geeky side. (Not that there is anything wrong with that.) Skywalker loves all things nerdy, from Star Wars to robots.  And he wants to grow up some day to be a "really smart computer guy." Along with Star Wars, Skywalker, also, loves Harry Potter. He's a quiet kid, very introverted and we worked for a while on breaking him out of his bubble, but we have come to realize that shy is just who he is and we love that quality in him!

March 2007, we welcomed another child to our family. We didn't know it then, but she would be our only daughter and you would think in a family full of boys, she might lose sight of her girliness, but oh no, not this girl! Heidi Klum is our very own super model. She is obsessed with pink and purple, glitter and sparkly things! And most of all she is in love with herself. I will never have to worry about her self confidence, because she has MORE then enough of it. And she is so much more then just a pretty face. She loves books and art and I have no doubt in mine she's a future class president.

Where Heidi is all girl, LB is all boy! Our middle child graced us with his presents one October afternoon in 2009 and from day one he has been a terror. LB is a wild little man. He's spunky and "punky." His favorite band is Hollywood Undead and his favorite past time is strumming a plastic guitar. And his hair... Well, you don't mess with his 6 inch mohawk! But don't let that punk rock attitude of his fool you, LB has a big heart. He loves to make people smile.

Handsome! You probably read more about handsome then any of the other kids on my blog and it's not because I love him more, it's because he's special. We were blessed with Handsome early 2011 and he changed our lives forever. After a very rough delivery and weeks in the NICU, we found out he had intractable epilepsy. Since then, his health has been a roller coaster of ups and down. In June 2012, we found out he had a neurodegenerative disease. Handsome is our blessing. He is our hero.

And lastly, Doc, the baby of the family. So why Doc and not Dopey? Our youngest child, born spring 2012, got his nickname from the movie Back to the Future. Doc Emmett Brown! Although, now that we have gotten to know Doc, I think Happy would have been a much better fit. He's always smiling, always laughing. Doc was a surprise! But a good surprise. His happy- go- lucky personality reminds to stop and smile and to be grateful.
