We live on a military post that just so happens to be on a state border. Half of the base is in Kentucky, while the other half is in Tennessee and we live on the Kentucky side. The Tennessee side of base borders a bigger city, with restaurants and many places to do your shopping. The Kentucky side, though... Not so much.
It's never been an issue, because the Tennessee town isn't too far and we can get everything done there. Most people don't even pay attention to which side of base they live on, because it really isn't an issue. Your military benefits are the same. Distance to the closest mall is pretty much the same. So when we were assigned a house on the Kentucky side, it didn't matter to us. It was a house!
Then Handsome was discharged from the hospital and we were told we had to have private duty nursing. We knew there was no way I was going to be able to wake up every 2.5 hours at night to do his feeds and administer medications and then wake up at 6am and get kids ready and off to school, with no time for naps because I also have a two year old and four month old to tend to during the day. We agreed with the doctors that there was just too much room for mistake with me running on that little sleep and having to do everything by myself. We were told it might be a few weeks before we could get a nurse out to the house, but we decided to discharge anyway, because we just wanted to go home and a few weeks? I can do a few weeks of no sleep.
Shortly after our discharge, though, we got a phone call from our insurance company stating that no one in Kentucky could do our private duty nursing and we needed to move to Tennessee to get it... *sigh*
We called EFMP and housing and I guess no one can help us get moved to Tennessee, so we are on our own with figuring this out. Another added stress. Time for me to get creative with managing my time! ;) Any tips or ideas from the readers?
